The particulars involved in moving a school or university can be as difficult as the subjects taught. Our skilled relocation teams concentrate in the diversified moving demands of school systems. Regardless if your school or university is anticipating a new construction, remodeling or is simply moving classrooms, laboratories or administrative spaces, Corrigan is highly recognized by the area’s top renowned school systems as well as some of the most respected colleges and universities across the U.S.

School Movers

Although balanced calendars are getting more widely accepted, regularly, we work with educational institutions with limited job dates occurring primarily between the months of June and September. We partake annually in various local school moves of almost every complexity and scale. While the wide majority of local school moving requires our team to be on-site to relocate furniture and equipment to and from temporary storage facilities during larger building projects, Corrigan is also capable of providing solutions to newly built facilities.

A Standard School Move: The Evaluation

Through the move out step of a project, our team of educated professionals is typically responsible for coordinating the disassembly of furniture, packing equipment and moving items to a secure storage location. And, regardless of its presumably straight forward procedure, there is a number of details that have to be addressed before relocating a school.

To start, and for proper planning, an overall job estimate needs to take place. During this process, a commercial relocation expert from the Corrigan team will usually complete a “walk through” of the facility or buildings included. He or she will accumulate details related to the scale and complexity of the school relocation job, including the placement of all articles to be relocated. Based on the particular job itself, this may be a series of classrooms, offices or departments.

While the general location is reviewed, our commercial relocation team of experts will also be determining furniture and equipment included as part of the relocation. They will be asking questions, such as if any pieces will need disassembly and reassembly as a portion of this project. If disassembly is necessary, for cubicles or other business furniture, our team will also need to know if there’s any reconfiguration scheduled for reassembling. In the situation of cubicles, the parts will be put together as they initially fit the area. During this walk-through process, technology such as computer systems, monitors, media and other articles will be noted. Our moving expert will be considering any disconnect and reconnection work necessary along with the skill-level necessary for each component of technology being moved. In the case of relocating science laboratories, or technology labs, our experts will be extra sensitive to pieces requiring special oversight and handling, valuable technology in addition to any specimens or hazardous items being relocated.

While our moving professional works to determine the physical pieces needing to be relocated, he or she will also be gauging additional, and perhaps not so clear requirements of the job. When collaborating with Corrigan, along with any adept craftsman, there is a built-in sense of expertise that innately addresses the small and frequently overlooked basics non-experts lack. Our team of trained relocation and storage experts are instructed to determine the extent of goods along with any storage needs, property protection, in addition to critical entry spots for an additional level of protection. We’ll be determining packing materials and supplies such as the number totes, stickers and boxes are needed, as well as carts and speed packs required. Further, our commercial relocation professional will determine the number of people needed, and time needed to swiftly meet the demands of each individual project.

Once the particulars of the project are realized, Corrigan’s moving professional is able to assemble the specifics and provide a bid for the project.

School Relocation: Phase I, Move Out

After the undertaking of making sure all particulars are managed, it’s time for Corrigan’s relocation team to step in and literally do the heavy-lifting. We can say, without delay, Corrigan’s movers are some of the top intelligent and skilled movers the field has to offer. With our internal, hands-on training spaces and corporate trainer, our relocation professionals are the cream of the crop.

Supplied with the specifics and details shared from the primary job assessment, our relocation crew will be prepared to do the work needed and keep the project on your timeline. During the primary move out phase, our crew will ensure the facility is correctly protected, including securing all door jams, walls and floors in traveled areas. We will correctly tag each location and the belongings being moved, complete any required packing as well as appropriately disassemble and pack any items needing our crew’s review. Our team will approach on-time, with the proper equipment to guarantee all timelines are met.

Once our moving team has appropriately packed all items, they will be relocated into interim storage, either on-site or, within Corrigan’s secured warehouse as agreed to by the school’s administration. There they will stay secured until any necessary construction projects have been finished by other vendors.

School Moving: Phase II

Though Phase II of the relocation process for most schools is booked, Corrigan knows this is a tentative schedule dependent on all other vendor work is complete. Assuming there are no interruptions in the building phase of the project, Corrigan will assume phase II at the initially agreed upon booked day and time.

Basically this stage of the school moving job is opposite of phase I. Our team will again ensure the property and facilities are adequately protected, securing all traveled spots, including door jams, elevator entrances, walls and flooring. Furniture will be delivered out of storage and relocated to their properly designated area. Our relocation crew will work to assemble any furniture, before setting up equipment and devices.

Once items are effectively delivered to their final spot, and all set up services have been finished, our crew will conduct one final walk through with designated school representatives to ensure that all tasks have been appropriately completed to the finest level Corrigan is known for.
